Call for Student Volunteers

FSE 2010 is an excellent opportunity for students (you) to meet and talk with leading academic and industrial researchers and practitioners in the area of software engineering. Being a student volunteer is also a great way to meet other students from all over the world and to offset some of the costs of the conference. Student volunteers are critical in ensuring that the conference runs smoothly.

By becoming a student volunteer at FSE 2010 you receive the following benefits:

• Complimentary registration to the main conference and associated workshop
• Hotel accommodation covering the room cost and tax (you will be required to share a room)
• Partial travel reimbursements
• Tickets to meals and receptions organized by the conference
• Free FSE 2010 T-shirt
• Participation certificate
• A special recognition dinner for you and select faculty

Requirements and Responsibilities

• Student volunteers must be enrolled in a Ph.D., Masters, or full-time undergraduate program at the time of the conference
• Students should be proficient in English
• Student volunteers will be asked to work approximately 20 hours during the week of the conference to help with the audio-visual equipment used by speakers, running microphones to audience members for questions, checking badges for entry to events, working at the registration desk, and other similar tasks. Some volunteers will also be needed the day before the conference starts to help fill registration bags.

Application

To apply, send a short CV and a letter of motivation that specifies how and why being a Student Volunteer will help you in your studies or career. Send these materials to the chair, Anita Sarma, by email asarma [at] cse.unl.edu. Additionally, in your email, clearly indicate the following:

• Subject header: FSE student volunteer application
• Your university or college and your education level (e.g., Ph.D. student 3rd year, Undergraduate - Junior)
• Whether you have been previously a student volunteer at FSE
• Whether you have a paper/poster/demo etc. accepted at FSE 2010
• Your budget for travelling and attending FSE 2010

Visa Letters

Invitation letters will be sent out after student volunteers have been selected. Letters will only state that you have been selected as a student volunteer for FSE 2010.
